Kabeywa United Youth Group

The Kabeywa united youth group was formed in 2010.
It started as a small youth group with 15 members.
Currently, Kabeywa united youth has a membership of
35 members (23 Men and 12 Women). The group is located in
Kabeywa sub county, Kapchorwa district, Elgon region
in Eastern Uganda.
The main economic activity carried out by the youth group
is farming and mainly growing coffee as the main source
of livelihood and cash. The main food crop planted by the
members is Bananas. The Kabeywa youth group is a
registered member of Kabeywa united coffee farmers
society (KUCOFAS) which is made up of 12 farmer groups.

Coffee is Uganda’s top-earning export crop. In 1989 Uganda’s coffee production capacity exceeded its quota of 2.3 million bags, but export volumes were still diminished by economic and security problems, and large amounts of coffee beans were still being smuggled out of Uganda for sale in neighbouring countries.
