Kilimbi Coffee Washing Station:
Founded in 2016 on the shores of Lake Kivu in Nyamasheke, Kilimbi became a pioneer in Rwanda’s specialty coffee scene. It was one of the first stations in the country’s history to be licensed for Natural and Honey processing, legally opening a new chapter for innovation in Rwandan coffee. Sitting between 1,650 and 1,850 masl, Kilimbi draws from fertile land, steady sun, and cool lake breezes to produce fruit-forward coffees with juicy sweetness and clean structure. It is managed by Tuyizere Emmanuel. With around 750 smallholder farmers delivering cherries each season, Kilimbi is not just a place of processing — it’s a hub of regeneration. In 2023, Muraho launched the Kilimbi Model Farm next door: a regenerative agriculture project showcasing best practices in soil health, intercropping, and climate resilience.
Kilimbi is where tradition meets bold experimentation — a station rooted in innovation and community progress.
