In 2016, the owner Maria Javier Albir inherit the farm. The Finca Los Cadernales is located in a well know area surround for mountains. The farm, located in Dipilto, is bordering a river and mountains creating a micro-climate with an important impact on the quality of the coffee. Dipilto area is know to be one of the places to grow coffee in Nicaragua. Three years ago, this area got the D.O. It is the first one in Nicaragua. The farm has a total area of 10 Manzanas (1 Manzana is aprox. 1.74 acres) on which they grow on 5 Manzanas Catuai Amarillo, Catuai Rojo, Caturra, Marsellesa, and Maracaturra below shade provided by Pine trees, Orange, Bucaro and Guava trees. Maria Jo, wants to diversify the farm and grow bananas and oranges trees too. The banana trees provide shadow for the coffee plants. And both are great fruits to enjoy at the farm. The name ‘Finca Los Cardenales’ comes from the name of the birds that sometimes we see them crossing the farm. They have a beautiful red color.
