This coffee “Flores del Café”, includes an extra premium used to help women obtain legal title to their land.
These titles enable women to get access to credits and loans.
Produced exclusively by women, this coffee is the key to our small farmers’ association’s goal to improve the quality of life for the member’s families.
In Jinotega women only have 15% of the land titles, wich are fundamental to access micro credits and loans for production and other economic activities.
Our objective is for these families to develop steady sources of income.
This changes the whole dynamic in inheritance, since traditionally the father is the one to leave the land to be divided amongst his sons.
It is a small change that requires an educational component, so those husbands can understand the advantage of letting their wives have access to different resources and contribute to the family’s quality of life.
