The Fernandez Family Farm is owned by Jose Maria Fernandez
(Don Pepe) and his son Luis. The coffee is cultivated on
140 hectares; 70 of these are planted with Caturra plants
and recently 70 hectares have been planted with Catimor.
Don Pepe has three sons working in the coffee business –
Luis, Enrique, and Hipólito. The Fernández Family started
their coffee project with the Caturra varietal, but after
the Coffee Rust infestation in 2015, they started replacing
the Caturras with the new varietal of Catimor which is
a more rust resistant variety. Their farm is located in
Arroyo Bonito, Jarabacoa, at an average altitude of
1400m. It is one of the highest located coffee farms and
shares a border with the National Park Jose Armando
