Placeres de Llano Red Honey

red honey

Six years ago, Leo Mora and his sister made the decision to process their family’s coffee at finca San antonio to create added value. the process was not easy since it took them four years to have their processing plant ready. Leo (head of the project) has taken several different cupping courses in order to better understand how to improve their processes to obtain better complexity. Since placers del Llano is a very young mill they are only processing a portion of the families total production. The rest is still sold in cherries to larger scale mills. The goal is to process their entire production in the future.

Coffees from Costa Rica

Coffee was planted in Costa Rica in the late 1700s, and it was the first Central American country to have a fully established coffee industry; by the 1820s, coffee was a major agricultural export with great economic significance to the population. National output was greatly increased by the completion of a main road to Puntarenas in 1846, allowing farmers to more readily bring their coffee from their farms to market in oxcarts – which remained the way most small farmers transported their coffee until the 1920s.
