Juan Saldarriaga, a member of the second generation in coffee production, began a new project in 2010 after completing studies in Germany. The goal was to move away from the traditional coffee market in Colombia and establish direct trade for their coffee. To achieve this, a transition process started, focusing on shifting from conventional coffee production to specialty coffee.
At La Claudina farm, the team worked tirelessly to improve the quality of their coffee. Over the years, they have implemented numerous changes, ensuring better quality with each harvest. The entire process, from picking to wet mill, dry mill, and export, is meticulously controlled by them.
In recent years, they have planted new varieties such as Gesha, Pink Bourbon, and Tabi. Additionally, they have explored various processes like Naturals, Honey with extended fermentations, and extended fermentations washed, further enhancing the quality of their coffee.
One standout product is the Colombia Excelso Hacienda La Claudina Geisha Honey coffee. Known for its exceptional quality, this coffee is processed using the Honey method, which allows the beans to develop a rich and complex flavor profile. The Geisha variety, prized for its floral and fruity notes, combined with the unique honey processing, results in a cup that is aromatic, smooth, and exceptionally well-balanced.
