The Karambo washing station is located in Muyinga province, in northern Burundi, a beautiful hilly region with an average altitude of 1500 – 1700 m.a.s.l.
It is close to the Ruvubu national park and crossed by the Nile River.
The hill takes its name from an animal called “Isasu” which was highly sought after by hunters.

One day, they saw it running on this hill and were not able to catch it, then a white man who lived there killed it with his gun and it was during this period that the hill took the name of Masasu.

Round about 2000 farmers with farms spread over 50 ha, are working together with the washing Station under the Manager Mr Etienne Girukwishaka.

Fully washed, natural and honey processed coffees are produced here.
