Sitio Pinhalzinho NY2 16up natural Yellow Catuai

natural

In 2004 Sérgio Riccetto acquired this small piece of land in Divinolândia city, state of São Paulo. There was an old coffee plantation in it which was basically abandoned. However Sérgio saw clear potention in the place for coffee cultivation and he extracted all the old trees present and started his own, in the beginning, with four hectares. In 2006 he planted his first whole plot of Red Catuaí with 4.800 coffee trees. in 2008 he planted 4.200 of Mundo Novo and more 6.200 of Yellow Catuaí.

The coffee picked in Sítio Pinhalzinho is processed natural, in the patio. Currently he adopted the “zero crop” harvesting system, which consists in prunning the trees of one plot to let it rest until the next harvest (normally 2 hectares) while the rest of the plantation is going to produce. In this way he can lower the productino cost as he won’t need to hire anyone during the picking and the productivity rose as well, to an average production of 45 bags per hectare.
