Edison started his story early in the coffee culture. At an
early age, he started working for a large farm in Nova
Resende, South de Minas. His father, José Ferreira Cardoso,
had already tried twice to start a coffee production on the
family property, but without success. The crops of 1979 and
1981 were taken by the frost and Jose decided to keep only
dairy cattle as his primary activity. After Edison became
interested in coffee farming, in 1986 he convinced his
father to give coffee a second chance.

The producer’s history
Nowadays, Edison and his wife Kerli are the ones
managing the property, with Kerli being the most
responsible for the post-harvest. The couple has shared
their knowledge with their children, Edison Junior and
Maria Eduarda, who already follow the work since the care
in the field, until the harvest, to follow the path that
Edison has been creating.
The harvest is divided between manual and mechanized,
since the relief of the property allows the use of
harvesting machines. During the harvest, Edison hires
some people from the region to help him in this period,
but during the rest of the year, only the family is
responsible for taking care of the cultural management.
