The Dutra family farms are located in the municipality of São João do Manhuaçu and Caputira, Minas Gerais. The coffee, which has been cultivated there for more than a century, is in perfect harmony with the environment. The climate, soil, and altitude combine to provide very pleasant aromas, flavors, and a balanced body, as recognized by several national and international coffee quality competitions. The Dutra Family preserves the environment by incorporating the coffee plantation in the native environment with respect, planting “green curtain” against strong winds in order to obtain more biological control against the pests that hits the coffee, reducing the use of pesticides.
The farm focuses on the preservation of the springs and the waterfalls by managing the water used during the processing. The Dutra Family provides its employees with the opportunity to attend training courses, offers safety equipment for work, encourages the planting of greenery and gardens in employees houses, supports the ‘Programa de Saúde da Família’ that brings the doctor to the farm to oversee health, and sponsors the local school where children have the opportunity to study.
