Fazenda Tres Rios natural fermentation Lot 0742
natural fermentation
Hélio de Godoy Tavares, a civil engineer from Rio de Janeiro, inherited part of his grandfather’s farm, Fazenda Piedade, in 1968. He dedicated himself to coffee cultivation in Campestre and expanded to the Cerrado Mineiro region, naming the new farm Três Rios. Using his business acumen and technical skills, Hélio modernized both properties.
Hélio inspired his children, Júlio, Luciana, Cláudia, and Eunice, to continue the coffee business. After his passing in 1999, they honored his legacy by investing in new structures and techniques to improve coffee quality and production.
Fazenda Três Rios produces its own organic compost, reducing chemical use. They plant cover crops to nourish and protect the soil and renovate plantations with rust and nematode-resistant varieties. The farm also preserves 356.37 hectares of native forest, over 50% of the property.
