The family came from Italy to Brazil at the end of 19th century and went to Nova Resende where there were no producers so far, and that’s why he can be called a pioneer in the coffee cultivation there. Since 1964 Mr. Osvaldo is the responsible for the property, splitting this job with his son, also called Osvaldo, and teaching his teenage grandson how to be a farmer. Even though the farm is pretty mountainous and in high altitude, they had to mechanize the harvest in 95%. The machines are selective and they collect only ripe fruits, leaving the green ones a bit more to be ready. 9 employees work all year round and another 15 are hired during harvesting time. The work implemented is called Precision Farming, which consists in having a more accurate agricultural management, considering that the each part of the land has a different profile and different needs when it comes to fertilizers and input, so they need individual assistance.
